If you follow me regularly, you'll know that I'm always asking you to "stop, pause and connect with your body".
This it because it gives you a moment to NOTICE what is going on,
how your body feels, where it's stuck, which body system needs support which then allows you to
TAKE ACTION.
When you know which system is under pressure - the brain, heart, gut or connective tissue - you can take action to support it and bring it out of the 'overwhelm/overload/stress' zone and back in to normal operating zone.
This great little diagram that I call my BODY HEALTH DETECTIVE JOURNEY helps you to think about all of these steps. Take a moment to stop and think about you own body - your pain or stress symptoms.
NEW INFORMATION:
What was the first ‘sense’ of change in your body – what did see, feel, sense, notice?
AWARENESS OF CHANGE:
Now you are aware of a pain or change, take note - is that sensation is repeated, is a pattern is forming?
RECOGNITION OF A PROBLEM:
Where is the change/pain coming from? What is it stopping you doing? What is the restriction?
WHAT ACTION DID YOU TAKE?:
Are you going to act on what you have noticed? Or ignore it/wait it out?
RESULT:
What was the consequence of your action/inaction(s)?
It sounds so simple doesn't it? 5 steps to take action.
And yet so often we ignore a tweak or twinge, and don't event notice a change in our way of moving to protect this new painful area, before we know it other parts of our body are compensating and being put under pressure and we start down a pathway to chronic pain or ills.
